Job Description Summary

The Department of History & Political Science at Rogers State University is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in military history, with preference given to candidates who are capable of teaching 20th/21st American military history. Review of applicants will continue until position is filled.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Historian with research and teaching competency in American 20th/21st century military history. Competence in teaching both U.S. History survey courses required. Demonstrated willingness to teach via distance mediums. Preference for a world history teaching competence other than European history. Applicants must provide evidence of effective instruction, scholarship/research, and institutional and professional contributions commensurate with rank.

Required Degree

A Ph.D. is required, although ABD applications will be considered with evidence of a doctoral defense prior to January 2018.

Licenses and Certifications
Essential Duties

12-hour (4 courses) teaching load per semester would include U.S. History and World Civilization survey courses. The successful candidate should be able to teach Writing and Research for Historians, Interpreting U.S. History, and select courses for a Military History curriculum. This position will be expected to do some student advising of Military History majors.
