Job Description Summary

Rogers State University is accepting applications for a Staff Accountant in the Budget and Accounting Department. Under general supervision, this position will perform accounting functions as directed by the Vice President for Administration and Finance, Comptroller/ Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs and/or Assistant Comptroller.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

•Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
•Knowledge of governmental budgeting and financial management environment
•Ability to successfully interact with people and work under pressure
•Ability to work independently and take initiative
•Analytical and able to interpret information successfully
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
•Ability to work independently or as a part of a team

Preferred Qualification Summary

•Certified Public Accountant
•Auditing experience
•Higher Education experience in the state of Oklahoma

Physical Demands

Occasional prolonged sitting or standing. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds with or without minimal assistance.

Required Degree

•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
•Three years of progressive experience in accounting or financial analysis
•Ability to provide high quality service in a university setting
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Excellent interpersonal skills

Licenses and Certifications
Essential Duties

•Assists in the development and implementation of fiscal policies and procedures
•Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of computerized accounting systems
•Performs cash handling/receipting and/or depositing functions
•Compiles and analyzes financial information
•Prepares entries into accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and documents business transactions
•Prepares periodic reconciliations of various accounts
•Assists in exercising effective control over University financial resources
•Assists in the compilation and monitoring of annual budgetary accounts
•Assists in the preparation of schedules for auditors
•Performs other duties as directed by Vice President for Administration and Finance, Comptroller/ Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs and/or Assistant Comptroller
